OTHER FAN REVIEWS

I love this film. Rating stars Sent: 14 August 2010
I first read the book of this while in school, and it was great. We then started to watch the film, but never finished the last hour. I recently wanted to watch it, so went on a scout of finding it. Everywhere else online was really expensive, but I thought to myself that I should check Amazon, which as always, worked fine.

Here it was cheap, came quick and I'm real happy with it. Watched it fully at long last, and was over-joyed with it.

A definite 'must see' Rating stars Sent: 04 August 2010
This is a film that has to be seen! I didn't know the story and didn't know much about the the leading actors, but what a shock it gave me. Gary Sinise played his part so low keyed as not to overshadow John Malkovich's character, which in turn made both stars shine brightly. Not knowing the story did have its advantages until the ending, that is, which shook me and left me thinking about this story for the rest of the day. Not a bad thing! The only minus in this film was the very low lighting throughout . I know it was cast in the 'Depression' era and was gloomy, but it did make for difficult viewing.

A sad old tale Rating stars Sent: 04 August 2010
I bought this DVD after reading the Novel, , I was not disapointed, it is very good dramatisation and envelopes you into the hot dusty locations amid the depression years of 30`s America.

It really makes you think about humanity, our individual hopes and dreams and how it can all go awry.

Just what I wanted for my daughter. Studying this for GCSE and really helpful. Need to read book first because there are some differences.
