The slightly disappointing commercial returns for Saw 6 may have been grabbing the headlines when the film made its cinematic bow in October 2009, yet this clouded another factor about the movie itself: that it was the best Saw feature for some time. Granted, the film does have an overriding feel of business as usual, and Saw VI isn’t shy about tying itself close to the hallmarks of the series thus far. So we get no shortage of gore, a collection of new traps for the latest unsuspecting victims to do battle with, and the influence of Tobin Bell’s Jigsaw still firmly felt. In Saw VI though, it holds together a little better than we’ve been used to seeing. This time, we get Special Agent Stahm going up against Detective Hoffman, the latter of whom is very much trying to build on the legacy of Jigsaw. It’s not the deepest of premises, but it works, and the film ties in just enough plot intrigue to get you to the end. Plus, the set piece sequences work well, and while the editing style is still a little too fractious, the end result is a real improvement, and an effective horror movie. Inevitably, though, episode seven of the series is on the way…! --Jon Foster
Oh yes...again! Sent: 06 September 2010 Yet again well worth waiting for.
So all has gone full circle and there can't be another one...or can there? Several possibilitys at the end that could lead to another, I do hope so.
Surprisingly good + better than 5! Sent: 30 August 2010 For a 6th film in the double Trilogy to come out should have been quite an ordeal to produce a good a story, considering Jigsaws' lack of a heart beat since the 3rd one! But to my surprise they gave it a lot more justice than the 5th one! Its mainly good for tying up quite a few loose ends and in general making the whole saga make a bit more sense.
I agree with 'soph' below, i wouldn't recommend watching if you haven't seen the others but if a fan then it is worth a watch, for good gore, much better traps than the 5th and like i say a bit of a better story line!
Personally i dont think any of them will match the 1st, with 2 and 3 adding something! 4 and 5 i can see they wanted to do to try and extend the story which 4 was clever but 5 and possibly now 6 getting a bit silly with respect to Jigsaw planning this all before his 'departure'. However I am still very glad they make them as they make a good watch, with good constant additions of links to the other films and traps!
does not play on computers with blu ray Sent: 27 July 2010 First I want to point out that you should not buy the bluray if you want to play it on a computer who has a blu ray player it will not play with powerdvd. It plays fine on a blu ray player, for me on my ps3. I think the description should somehow mention that fact. Copy protection produces non standards, and there sure could be problems with other blu ray player. For the movie it's like all the saw movies, a lot of blood and violence.
great dvd Sent: 01 July 2010 great film, good price, great delivery time, film is amazing they just get better and better, but dvd was a bit sticky but did'nt ruin my entertainment.
Saw fan :) Sent: 14 June 2010 As a massive saw fan, I was pleased with this film after what seemed to be a fairly bad 5th.
If you're considering buying this as you've heard of the saw films, and want to watch a bit of horror, then don't without having watched the previous five films, as this film won't make any sense to you.
However, if you've seen all the saw films up to this one, then this one is a good buy: still never going to compete with the original saw film, saw 6 is definitely a good one. The storyline has you hooked throughout, and as usual, the saw creators don't disappoint with the amount of gore it has in it.
Enjoy!
