Brilliant Sent: 07 September 2010 Tomboyish 17 year old Makoto Konno spends her free time with her two best boy buddies playing baseball and generally letting her grades slip. She's often late to class and tries to put off thoughts about 'growing up'. So it's perfect timing when she suddenly gains the ability, after an accident in her high school chemistry lab, to leap through time.
Makoto initially uses her ability to maximise on her fun, but hey, if you've sat through the same class a couple of times you can't help but improve on your grade which is yet another bonus. The only problem is how exactly did she gain this ability? At whose expense?
I don't want to give much away about the plot, but I can say this made me laugh out loud and cry too! One of my favourite animes. I highly recommend this DVD.
Dissapointing Sent: 12 August 2010 Even though this film has had many positive reviews, this film was not for me. Although it started off well and that the synopsis looked promising, it was a very disappointing film, the main character Makoto a 16/17 year old girl is very childish and it takes her a long time to realise how selfish she has been, she can time travel but only uses it for trivial things. The overall plot leaves a lot to be desired. Mabe this film would be better suited to a young audience. One positive thing I have about this film would be the animation style, although I still wouldn't recommend it =S
xx
Great Anime, Great value! :D Sent: 08 August 2010 I'm always on the lookout for Anime bargains & this took my eye,not because of the title but because of the value! When i watched it i loved the storyline. I'm sure that the voice actress is the same as the character in The Cat returns (If your a Studio Ghibli fan like me ^^) I fully recommend this!
Timeless Sent: 27 July 2010 ** Review by my daughter Katie, aged 14 **
Making her life perfect is everything Makato wants after she discovers this amazing ability to literally 'leap' through time after an accident in her school lab room. But she soon discovers there are all sorts of consequences affecting her life, friendship and everything she has if she makes the wrong move. Using her time leap skills, she will leap through time to try and make things back to the way it always should have been.
This is a real teenage, kind of romance film that is heart warming but edgy, almost sending you in tears towards the end. I thought it was a unique and funny story, with fabulous Japanese art work that I love and a great story line that is understandable all the way through.
I would say it's a family film because it has that innocent fun feeling to it that we can all relate to. It's funny, well animated, and makes you want more in the end.
Incredible Sent: 02 July 2010 Absolutely Incredible, one of my favourite japanese films of all time and i have seen my fair share. I didn't think it would match up to some of the Studio Ghibli Collection but it definitley did and is even better than a few. Would highly recommend this film to people of all ages.
